Victuallers talkback is wishing Melody Season's Greetings! Thanks, this is just to celebrate the holiday season and promote WikiLove, and hopefully makes your day a little better. Spread the seasonal good cheer by wishing another user a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, whether it be someone with whom you had disagreements in the past, a good friend, or just some random person. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited British American Tobacco, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Marlboro (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Sorry, are you planning to add all the articles Malerisch has pointed out are in level 3 but not level 4? I reverted your discussion closes because we've usually been discussing them before we add them, just to let everyone else know what's going on; but that was before I noticed you were adding them in yourself. Personally I have no problem with it, but that doesn't seem to be how we've been doing things recently. Cobblet (talk) 19:23, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
Hi, Melody,
I really appreciate you mentioning the Meta list of vital articles, which I studied thoroughly after you mentioned it. A list with so few editors involved, and so few total edits, will be good to revisit and update as the discussion of the English Wikipedia level 4 revisions continues.
As I've followed various WikiProjects, I've noticed that an editor is running a tool to show article pageviews by project, with results summarized in Popular pages reports for most WikiProjects. For example, you can see the popular pages report for WikiProject India at Wikipedia:WikiProject India/Popular pages and in general you can go to most WikiProject main pages and just append the subpage link "/Popular_pages" to the main page URL to see the popular pages report (there are some exceptions, that is projects for which there is no Popular pages summary). The popular pages are shown in strict rank order of pageviews from all sources, including redirects, and thus show a different count of pageviews from that shown by the link to the grok.se tool from the article's history page.
Of course pageviews are far from the only consideration when deciding what to list as a vital article on Wikipedia, but to do our work on trimming the vital article list in disregard of actual pageview behavior by Wikipedia readers seems to miss out on a valuable source of guidance on what to prioritize. What I will try to do as I respond to nominations is especially look at reference books I have at hand (more for some subjects than for others, and especially many for psychology) to see how the reference sources divide up the world of knowledge into more or less essential topics. I appreciate your thoughtful comments and careful attention in the numerous active discussions on the project talk page just now. See you on the wiki. -- WeijiBaikeBianji (talk, how I edit) 22:39, 4 July 2014 (UTC)
Quick closing discussions that you did not open and which are only a few days old, archiving them immediately after closing, and taking a demeaning attitude towards other users is not conducive to collective discussion. Discussion is our primary (possibly only) tool of figuring out things, discerning what we collectively want to do, and (most importantly) reassessing whether what we have done in the past is the right thing for the future. When you have disagreements in the future, I hope you'll consider discussion and engage in practices which foster such open dialogue rather than stifling it. That would help all of us not only contribute to the project, but improve it over time. Thank you. AbstractIllusions (talk) 19:43, 5 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi, Melody,
I recall we met while working on the 10,000 vital articles list. I just saw an edit of yours that reverted an edit by Aprock (a very experienced and thoughtful Wikipedian), and I support Aprock's edit because it best matches what reliable secondary sources say about the "warrior gene" issue (that there is no such gene). As it appears you have an interest in biology and genetics, I'd like to invite your attention to an ever-growing source list on human genetics I keep in user space for all Wikipedians, which can always use new suggestions of sources from knowledgeable editors. There is a lot of good stuff to read listed in the source list, but there could be more, so feel free to suggest new sources you know about so that the list becomes more useful over time. See you on the wiki. -- WeijiBaikeBianji (talk, how I edit) 21:44, 30 October 2014 (UTC)

I understand the spirit of many of your comments - you are clearly coming from a good-hearted place, but I don't have a sense that you have a sense of the problem, nor its scope. A whole flood of articles is listed in wikiproject medicine, that students dumped marginal-to-bad-to-COPYVIO content into - all these students trying to hit their deadlines and just throwing crap into WP. I've tried to engage students and I find that they are generally really not open to hearing about things like UNDUE or even about COPYVIO. Your comments would be better received (and probably different) if you were getting into the trenches and dealing with the damage - and if you had the experience of doing that.... Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
