Development

In March 2009, Marvel Studios hired writers to help come up with creative ways to launch its lesser-known properties, including Vision,[2] and Paul Bettany was later cast as the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) incarnation of Vision. After Vision's death in Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Bettany was revealed to be portraying a reassembled and reactivated version of Vision in the Disney+ series WandaVision (2021), referred to as "White Vision" or "The Vision",[3][4][5] and bears an all-white appearance, similar to when the comic book character was resurrected with an all-white body and no memories or emotions.[3] In May 2021, WandaVision head writer Jac Schaeffer signed a three-year overall television deal with Marvel Studios and 20th Television to develop additional projects for the studios' Disney+ content.[6] By October 2022, Marvel Studios was developing a television series centered on Vision called Vision Quest,[7][1] which would be centered on Bettany's "White Vision" and have Schaeffer serve as head writer after working on another WandaVision spin-off, Agatha: Darkhold Diaries (2024).[1] A Vision-centric series had been rumored to be in development as early as March 2021.[8] The series shares the name of a late 1980s Marvel Comics storyline in West Coast Avengers,[7][9] although Jeff Sneider of Above the Line reported it was unclear if it would serve as a direct adaptation.[7] Executive producers of the series include Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige and Mary Livanos, alongside Schaeffer.[10][better source needed] 20th Television also produces the series.[10][additional citation(s) needed]

Casting

Bettany was revealed to be reprising his role as Vision in the series with the reveal of its development in October 2022. There was also potential at this time for Elizabeth Olsen to reprise her MCU role as Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch in the series.[1]

Writing

A writers' room was set to be formed in early November 2022.[7][1] The series centers on "White Vision" as he attempts to regain his memory and humanity.[1] Peter Cameron and Megan McDonnell serve as writers for the series, after previously working on WandaVision, Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, and other MCU media.[11] Eileen Shim was also set to serve as a writer for the series.[12]

Filming

Principal photography is expected to begin in late 2024.[13]

Release
