Donald J. Trump v. Shenna Bellows is a lawsuit filed in response to In re: Challenges to Primary Nomination Petition of Donald J. Trump, a decision by Maine secretary of state Shenna Bellows in which Bellows rejected the presidential eligibility of Donald Trump, the former president of the United States and a candidate in the 2024 presidential election, on the basis of his attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election.[2]
On January 2, 2024, Trump appealed the ruling to the Maine Superior Court, arguing that Bellows is biased and that she has "no legal authority to consider the federal constitutional issues presented by the challengers".[3]
On December 29, 2023, a man placed a call to the Manchester Police Department claiming to have broken into Bellows's home. Officers did not find suspicious activity at the home, and the call is believed to be a hoax.[4]
