On 7 December 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Wreathed hornbill, which you recently nominated. The fact was ... that the wreathed hornbill (male pictured) is hunted for consumption of its meat, and that its casque is used as headgear by local people in Arunachal Pradesh? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Wreathed hornbill. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Wreathed hornbill), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

A recently closed Request for Comment (RFC) reached consensus to remove Autopatrolled from the administrator user group. You may, similarly as with Edit Filter Manager, choose to self-assign this permission to yourself. This will be implemented the week of December 13th, but if you wish to self-assign you may do so now. To find out when the change has gone live or if you have any questions please visit the Administrator's Noticeboard. 20:05, 7 December 2021 (UTC)

This is to let you know that the Ursa_Minor article has been scheduled as a today's featured article rerun for January 10, 2022. Please check the article needs no amendments. If you're interested in editing the main page text, you're welcome to do so at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/January 10, 2022, but note that a coordinator will trim the lead to around 1000 characters anyway, so you aren't obliged to do so.

I'm following the "FA RECIPE" and I'm currently at step 7 ;) I've just listed Levantine Arabic for peer-review.
I saw that you reviewed Black American Sign Language (the most recent FA about a language?) a few years ago.
So I thought you may be interested in taking a squiz at Levantine Arabic before I nominate it. And maybe help me with the FAC process as it would be my first FAC.

The 2021 re-examination of RFA has been completed. 23 (plus 2 variants) ideas were proposed. Over 200 editors participated in this final phase. Three changes gained consensus and two proposals were identified by the closers as having the potential to gain consensus with some further discussion and iteration. Thanks to all who helped to close the discussion, and in particular Primefac, Lee Vilenski, and Ymblanter for closing the most difficult conversations and for TonyBallioni for closing the review of one of the closes.
The following proposals gained consensus and have all been implemented:
Why are you interested in becoming an administrator?Special thanks to xaosflux for help with implementation.
The following proposals were identified by the closers as having the potential to gain consensus with some further discussion and iteration:
Editors who wish to discuss these ideas or other ideas on how to try to address any of the six issues identified during phase 1 for which no proposal gained are encouraged to do so at RFA's talk page or an appropriate village pump.
A final and huge thanks all those who participated in this effort to improve our RFA process over the last 4 months.
This is the final update with no further talk page messages planned.

Hi!
You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.
When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.
Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.
If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.
We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.
Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

Hi there, you're receiving this note because you're currently signed up for the 2022 WikiCup and don't yet have any points in the competition. As you may know, scoring any points in the first round is traditionally sufficient to advance to the second, and a fast way to get 5 points is to complete a good article review. Given that the January 2022 Good Article Nomination Backlog Drive is active for another 10 days, you might be interested in pitching in. Complete one review, and you'll be on to the next round in WikiCup; complete two or three, and you'll also be eligible to win some barnstars. As always, quality reviews with attention to detail are expected. Cheers, --Usernameunique (talk) 19:43, 22 January 2022 (UTC)

Hi there! You left a message on my talk page in September about potentially touching up the above article and making another run at FA with it, and I said that I would potentially be ready in a few weeks. Well, six months later, I figured that we could potentially take another look at it, if you have the time. I have tried to address the comments at the first FA nomination that were still outstanding. Is there anything else that I should look at before potentially nominating it again? Thank you! PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 03:19, 3 March 2022 (UTC)
And so ends the first round of the WikiCup. Last year anyone who scored more than zero points moved on to Round 2, but this was not the case this year, and a score of 13 or more was required to proceed. The top scorers in Round 1 were:
These contestants, like all the others who qualified for Round 2, now have to start scoring points again from scratch. Between them, contestants completed reviews of a large number of good articles as the contest ran concurrently with a GAN backlog drive. Well done all! To qualify for Round 3, contestants will need to finish Round 2 among the top thirty-two participants.
Remember that any content promoted after the end of Round 1 but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Anything that should have been claimed for in Round 1 is no longer eligible for points. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed.
Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! On 20 April 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Chestnut-backed buttonquail, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that despite being described in 1840, the chestnut-backed buttonquail was only confirmed in Queensland in 2020? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Chestnut-backed buttonquail. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Chestnut-backed buttonquail), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Hi @Casliber! Sorry to have to bug you about this after all your excellent work running the Take the Lead contest, but I was wondering if you might be able to prod the WMUK folks about delivering the prizes that were announced back in January. I've followed up with Karla multiple times, and each time she's promised to handle it and then disappeared. It's been rather frustrating to have this lingering unresolved for months. The second round of the 2022 WikiCup has now finished. It was a high-scoring round and contestants needed 115 points to advance to round 3. There were some very impressive efforts in round 2, with the top seven contestants all scoring more than 500 points. A large number of the points came from the 11 featured articles and the 79 good articles achieved in total by contestants.
Our top scorers in round 2 were:
The rules for featured and good article reviews require the review to be of sufficient length; brief quick fails and very short reviews will generally not be awarded points. Remember also that DYKs cannot be claimed until they have appeared on the main page. As we enter the third round, any content promoted after the end of round 2 but before the start of round 3 can be claimed now, and anything you forgot to claim in round 2 cannot! Remember too, that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them. When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met.
If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anything else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! Squash is a racket and ball sport played by two or four players in a four-walled court with a small, hollow rubber ball. The players alternate in striking the ball with their rackets onto the playable surfaces of the four walls of the court. The objective of the game is to hit the ball in such a way that the opponent is not able to play a valid return.

This is to let you know that the Red-headed myzomela article has been scheduled as today's featured article for July 31, 2022. Please check the article needs no amendments. If you're interested in editing the main page text, you're welcome to do so at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/July 31, 2022, but note that a coordinator will trim the lead to around 1000 characters anyway, so you aren't obliged to do so.
For Featured Articles promoted recently, there will be an existing blurb linked from the FAC talk page, which is likely to be transferred to the TFA page by a coordinator at some point.

Hello Casliber! I see that you are listed at Wikipedia:Mentoring for FAC and specialize, in part, with popular culture related topics. Would you be able (and willing) to take a look at The Rolling Stones by any chance and provide feedback at Wikipedia:Peer review/The Rolling Stones/archive2? I have some (read: done a couple) experience with FAC and am hoping to take that article through FAC following another GOCE copyedit and would appreciate any feedback or suggestions that would make the process easier. hello, Cas Liber! i had a question regarding this article and the associated blurb. does this bird live in subtropical mangrove forests? the subtropical forests are mentioned in the article lead and blurb, but i could not find them mentioned in the article body, so i was unsure if the statement is sourced. the distribution map in the infobox does not appear to have any marked areas overlapping those in the map of areas with a subtropical climate in the lead of the article on the subtropics, or falling in the areas marked as the subtropics in the other map found in that lead. i could not find any supporting sources myself, though i did find one source listing its habitat as "Subtropical/Tropical", which may have used the label for any bird living in only subtropical areas, only tropical areas, or both. dying (talk) 21:26, 29 July 2022 (UTC)
