The 2024 Redditch Borough Council election is scheduled to be held on Thursday 2 May 2024, alongside the other local elections in the United Kingdom being held on the same day. All 27 members of Redditch Borough Council in Worcestershire will be elected following boundary changes.
Redditch was a traditionally Labour council. Labour controlled the council from 1976 until 2000, and again from 2004 to 2006.[1] The Conservatives took control of the council from no overall control in 2010, but lost control to Labour in 2012.[2]
The Conservatives retook the council in 2018,[3] and have controlled the council ever since. In the most recent election, the Conservatives lost 5 seats with a vote share of 38.8%, and Labour gained 5 with 43.8%.
Redditch usually elects its councillors in thirds, on a 4-year cycle. However, following boundary changes, all councillors will be elected to the new wards.[4] The change reduces the number of councillors by 2.
