The 2024 City of Wolverhampton Council election is scheduled to be held on Thursday 2 May 2024, alongside the other local elections in the United Kingdom being held on the same day. One-third of the 60 members of City of Wolverhampton Council in the West Midlands will be elected.
Wolverhampton is a strong Labour council. The party have controlled the council for most of its history, only failing to win a majority in 1987, 1992, 2008, and 2010.[1] The 2023 election was for the entire council on new ward boundaries.[2] In that election, Labour won 47 seats with 57.2% of the vote, and the Conservatives won 13 with 37.0%.
The 2024 election is for seats held by councillors who were elected with the smallest number of votes.[3] Labour are defending 15 seats and the Conservatives are defending 5.[4]
