There is a Pakistani IP user removing links to "Indo-Canadian" articles from Pakistani diaspora templates. He objects to the term "Indo-Canadian" (which actually means all Canadians of south Asian origin) and therefore is removing links to Indo-Canadians in Greater Vancouver and Indo-Canadians in the Greater Toronto Area (which have information on people of Pakistani origins living in those cities)
His edits are grossly inappropriate. After the last revert I am notifying this project. WhisperToMe (talk) 00:22, 19 July 2016 (UTC)

The title refers to a particular award (the Nishan-e-Pakistan), which is the highest award possible, but the article content covers all the <x>-e-Pakistan awards (Nishan Hilal, Sitara and Tamgha). Normally there are different levels of orders, but in this case, there's only one level actually called Order (nishan). Therefore, the article title is a bit confusing, and I'd like to change it to something clearer, but I don't know what that would be. It is also possible that the Civil decorations of Pakistan article is organized incorrectly in the table, but I am not sure there either. Can someone help me sort this out? Hi, I've got the impression that this project may be fairly dormant nowadays but I wonder if anyone could point me in the direction of sources relating to Mazhabi Sikhs in Pakistan? Our article did say that they are still present there but I have my doubts, especially given the 1947 migrations of communities both to and from Pakistan/India. Might there be modern census data that could help, for example? Thanks. - Sitush (talk) 08:27, 22 June 2016 (UTC)

Lately, I have been working on fixing the issues with the biography pages of Federal Ministers of Pakistan. Out of 21 pages, most of the pages were poorly sourced and very promotional. So it took me a while to fix them all up and since now the pages have been cleaned-up to meet the WP guidelines, I request volunteers to keep an eye on them and remove any sort of vandalism and unsourced or objectionable text added to pages which could possibly put article's quality at stake, again. I believe the pages of current cabinet members are important and should be neccessary to keep them clean and properly sourced. --Saqib (talk) 09:54, 13 October 2016 (UTC)

Many of the articles on Western Punjabi dialects include lists of words in the given dialect. The trouble is that these are unsourced, the entries have sometimes been modified by various anonymous users, and these articles have generally been subjected to quite a bit of sockery and POV-pushing. I think the wordlists are unreliable and I'm planning to remove them all, but it would be nice if someone could have a look and let me know in case I'm wrong. There are such wordlists for example at Thalochi dialect, Jhangvi dialect and Multani dialect. – Uanfala (talk) 17:34, 13 November 2016 (UTC)

@182.189.225.179: The Pakistani IPs don't seem to be getting the message. I got this message from an IP user criticizing me for correctly pointing out what "Indo-Canadian" means, accusing me of "vandalism". He removed the Toronto/Vancouver pages *despite* the fact I had them renamed to "South Asian" ameliorate this.
I think it's time to do full protection.
I also edited the lead of Indo-Canadian to make it clear that A. the term *also* includes other South Asians and B. when Statistics Canada differentiates specifically post-partition India it uses "East Indian" and not "Indo-Canadian" as the differentiating word. (although in reality that too gets mixed up with the other words) WhisperToMe (talk) 15:10, 3 December 2016 (UTC)

After having compared Pakistan with United States, India and China articles, I have come to the following conclusion.
i. 'Economy' sub-section needs to be given its own Section (move it out of 'Infrastructure').
ii. 'Geography, environment and climate' section should be listed right after 'History' and above 'Government and politics'.
iii. 'Urbanisation' sub-section needs to be moved and listed under 'Demographics' section.
iv. 'Military' sub-section needs to be given its own Section (move it out of 'Government and politics').
v. 'Science and technology' sub-section can have its own Section (move it out of 'Infrastructure').
Consensus is sought for the necessary changes (which obviously should be carried out by senior Wikipedians), after which this article needs to be nominated for Good Article status.
P.S. Each recommended point should be debated separately so that the ones with consensus can be implemented. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mfarazbaig (talk • contribs) 00:10, 16 January 2017 (UTC)

Greetings, I have no domain knowledge on the general topic of Pakistan however I noticed the Kot_Adu article has recently had about 12K worth of text added, with no sources provided for the new text. The text needs copy editing for grammar, and some aspects of the writing sound very non-encyclopedic. Before I take a run at cleaning it up, I wanted to reach out here and see if someone with more expertise on Pakistan could check it out and groom this article a bit. There may be some good content in the new edit however, you may be better equipped with proper RS's to validate whether the content is good or not. I'll watch this page so if someone wants to take it on, please let me know. Otherwise I'll try to circle back to it. My aim here is just to keep the article clean so that any non-sensical content doesn't detract from what may be meaningful and actually verifiable. Cheers and thanks! Hi there,
The article for Gojra has been on my watchlist for a while now due to repeated promotion, sock puppetry, and [somewhat less problematically] adding a great deal of unsourced content, including opinion. Like many city/town articles, it attracts a lot of WP:SPAs and new users who don't know how Wikipedia works. I've just done some cleanup from the last round of several IPs/new accounts adding such content, but the article could really use some attention from experienced editors if anyone is so inclined.
Thanks. — Rhododendrites talk \\ 13:21, 16 April 2017 (UTC)

A lot of content (in some cases, entire articles), related to the tribes of Nortern Pakistan, has been deleted by a wikiuser that goes by the name 'sitush' (from southern India). Only explanation given by him for such vandalism is that HE does not consider the British Raj, Ancient Persian or Greek sources as reliable. It should be noted that the British Raj, Persian, and Greek sources are the only sources which documented the history of most of the tribes in northern Pakistan and by refusing to accept them as reliable sources, the user mentioned earlier has been responsible for a lot of empty or vandalized articles. Moreover, the said user also locks the pages from edits. I would like to know why and how, a person from southern India, is allowed to dictate people from Northern Pakistan on what HE considers reliable and what he does not consider reliable. It would seem to me that editing wiki pages is his full time job and he gets paid for it as he takes little to no time to undo an edit done on an article regarding tribes of northern Pakistan and is always active on wikipedia. Checking my old links I noticed weird categories in some articles linked to [Category:Journalistic hoaxes]; articles in question are Valmiki Temple and Lava temple, Lahore fort. Both articles were started by now-blocked User:Thecutehero and the categories were included in the original versions of the articles. I removed the categories because the articles do not refer to any kind of hoax but I also know _absolutely nothing_ about Lahore. If the original editor started these articles as his own personal journalistic hoax, they maybe be suspicious. Therefore I decided to inform the people mostly likely to know about the area. Wikipedia has many thousands of wikilinks which point to disambiguation pages. It would be useful to readers if these links directed them to the specific pages of interest, rather than making them search through a list. Members of WikiProject Disambiguation have been working on this and the total number is now below 20,000 for the first time. Some of these links require specialist knowledge of the topics concerned and therefore it would be great if you could help in your area of expertise.
A list of the relevant links on pages which fall within the remit of this wikiproject can be found at http://69.142.160.183/~dispenser/cgi-bin/topic_points.py?banner=WikiProject_Pakistan

The term Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaah currently goes to a redirect with links out to Sunni Islam, Barelvi, and various Sunni groups, including Jamaat Ahle Sunnat. It appears that Jamaat Ahle Sunnat might the same thing as the proscribed Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamat (ASWJ). Or is JAS something different entirely and just some basic Barelvi group, and do we currently lack an article for Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamat (ASWJ)?
What brought this to my attention was a new article on Muhammad Ahmed Ludhianvi, the leader of proscribed ASWJ. For "whatever reason" the new article did not mention at all that ASWJ is proscribed, nor that Ludhianvi is on a terrorism suspect list in Pakistan (per reliable news reporting). I would invite interested persons to watchlist that page as it is possible that supporters may "whitewash" the page to remove any criticism of this figure, or alternately that it might be vandlalized by opponents.
Thanks for any help figuring out if ASWJ (proscribed) is an existing page, or needs a new page! MatthewVanitas (talk) 09:34, 22 February 2018 (UTC)

Please see Talk:Khes. This article and its primary author could use some help. The topic appears at least marginally encyclopedic, but the main editor (not a native English speaker) seems to have trouble understanding the core content policies, parsing the exact meaning of the sources and citing them accurately (may have even contradicted them in a few places). As I've suggested on the talk page, there are probably non-English sources that are good for this (perhaps already listed in non-English articles at South Asian-languages Wikipedias that haven't been linked to this article yet). I already did a cleanup pass on the page, last night, to make it more comprehensible, but there are sourcing issues I can't really deal with. I'll notify WT:INDIA, too, since this topic is kind of a pan-Punjab thing. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 00:57, 5 December 2020 (UTC)

Recently MuhammadWaleed83752 has modified several maps on two pages of interest to this project. This work is to be commended as a good faith effort to improve our encyclopedia. The changes to the maps are mostly the addition of text explaining the status of Jammu & Kashmir. There are, however, some concerns that should be considered before more work is devoted to this effort.
It is encouraged that a Neutral Point of View be taken into consideration while submitting maps relating to the disputed territories of Kashmir.
Here are the changes:

As I am not a member of this project and only occasionally contribute to articles under WP:PAK, I cannot speak for the project. But I am familiar enough to know that these changes should be reviewed and are subject to consensus. YBG (talk) 06:56, 18 May 2021 (UTC)
IN REPLY TO Uanfala (talk)
1. Jammu and Kashmir dispute is one of the oldest internationally recognized disputes pending on the agenda of the United Nations Security Council.
2. United Nations has passed 18 Resolutions on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, and until the final resolution of the issue under UN auspices, the region remains disputed.
3.It is entirely reasonable to expect that a map of this sensitive region should reflect the disputed status of the territory.
4.Even if the maps are for illustrative purpose, the objectivity and neutrality of the disputed regions cannot be overlooked. Hence, UN maps of the region of Jammu and Kashmir on Wikipedia should be used and reflect the position on Jammu and Kashmir which is supported by the UN Charter and applicable UNSC Resolutions.
5.Any unilateral publication and peddling of incorrect maps to depict Jammu and Kashmir as part of India is incorrect and against Wikipedia’s ethical code MuhammadWaleed83752 (talk) 13:45, 02 May 2021 (UTC)
The two changed maps at Princely States of Pakistan shown above were reverted to their previous state on May 18 by Uanfala, but were restored on 6/11 in two (1 & 2) edits by MuhammadWaleed83752. Contrary to what this editor states above, these maps are obviously biased, do not conform to WP:NPOV, and emphasize information that is clearly off topic of the article involved.
A map which merely marked Kashmir as a 'disputed territory', I believe that would be acceptable, provided the marking was unobtrusive and did not detract from the primary subject matter, and expressed this status of the dispute in a NPOV manner. But a map which adds over 100 words of text to the map expressing a one-sided view to a territorial dispute is clearly not helpful. YBG (talk) 05:24, 14 June 2021 (UTC)
Any watcher who is knowledgeable about Zhob Valley Railway?
After trains ceased plying c. 1986 (and the proposed gauge-conversion hit hurdles), almost all mobile properties — from wagons to cranes to furnaces — were stolen in the span of a few years. This generated a fair deal of hullaballoo in local media and an official enquiry was "supposedly" launched by Pakistan Railways. I am looking for the conclusion-report of that enquiry, if it indeed took place and the report was made public. TrangaBellam (talk) 17:30, 18 September 2021 (UTC)

Assalamu alaykum and good afternoon,
There is an ongoing dispute at several articles (e.g. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Quetta) over whether to include placenames in local minority languages (Hindko, Balochi, etc.) where the spellings in these languages do not differ from the Urdu one. This has been brought to ANI (permalink) by one of the users involved, but as it seems to be primarily a content dispute (with some edit warring occurring as a result), the thread appears to be premature at this time. In my opinion, this issue is better discussed here.
Therefore, I would like to start a discussion for the following question:
Should placenames in languages be included in the lede for articles where:

I don't believe it is necessary to include every single language spoken. If there is a difference in the spelling of the name, then it should be mentioned otherwise it need not to be mentioned since it would just clutter the introductions and infoboxes, like it has been done at Quetta and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In KPK alone, there 20 languages spoken - it would be ridiculous having to mention them all. نعم البدل (talk) 20:03, 11 June 2022 (UTC)
I am currently aiming to finish setting up all the delsorts for the remaining states of India, as well as some of the more populated union territories. However, I am not sure if Indian-controlled Kashmir should be handled in the delsort system with the Pakistani- and Chinese-controlled parts, or if all the regions of Kashmir should be handled separately. More discussions at WT:DELSORT. –LaundryPizza03 (dc̄) 00:21, 28 June 2022 (UTC)

Not sure how active this Project is however recently I have noticed an User adding large amounts of text about influencers on Tourism in Pakistan sourcing the vast majority of information from one article from the Guardian and placing it prominently at the article top section.
It smells of agenda driven editing and comparing it to every other Tourism article about other nations completely Undue and needs to be removed its an obvious way of painting a certain picture and pushing a view point . However considering influencers are invited the world over by many nations why is Pakistan being singled out? I am aware that Pakistan related articles have always been targets due to a large number of a particular type of editor dominating this website but you cannot just sit back and let them set their agenda here its time to take back a bit of control and balance out this Tourism article. The article has been proposed for deletion due to multiple reasons. The article will be deleted after seven days if no action is taken. I got in touch with the proposer and he proposes that the article be moved to draftspace for improvement. Waiting for suggestions from the community. Regards. I will be glad if someone can scan "Report of the Select Committee on Addition and or Re-distribution of Seats in the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan" presented before the third session of the First Constitutent Assembly on 18 May 1948 in light of the ongoing population flux. To the best of my information, the report was published in the contemporaneous issue of The Gazette of Pakistan. Thanks, TrangaBellam (talk) 12:43, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
I think the article Mahajir (Pakistan) should be raised to top-importance since Muhajirs are the 5th largest ethnic group of Pakistan and have had an important part in the history of Pakistan especially during Pakistan movement and the nation building years of Pakistan. Already article 2022–2023 Pakistan economic crisis is not in good updated condition, moreover recently WP has been censored in Pakistan. The article seem to need article expansion help to keep adequately updated.
