The following list provides information relating to the minimum wages (gross) of countries in Europe.[1][2]

The calculations are based on the assumption of a 40-hour working week and a 52-week year, with the exceptions of France (35 hours),[3] San Marino (37.5 hours),[4] Belgium (38 hours),[5] United Kingdom (38 hours),[3] Germany (38 hours),[6] Ireland (39 hours)[6] and Monaco (39 hours).[7] Most minimum wages are fixed at a monthly rate, but some countries set their minimum wage at an hourly rate or annual rate.

Minimum wages by country

Net income

The map below shows monthly adult minimum (after tax, social charges & deductions) income; some countries have a lower rate for under-25-year-olds.

Purple above €1,000
Light blue €500 to €1,000
Yellow €250 to €499
Red below €250

Countries marked on the map in dark red do not have a minimum wage.

Gross income

The map below shows monthly (before tax, social charges & deductions) minimum adult income; some countries have a lower rate for under-25-year-olds.

Purple above €1500
Light blue €700 to €1500
Yellow €400 to €699
Red below €400

Countries marked on the map in dark red do not have a minimum wage.

The disparity between the gross and net income ratios, across countries, is given by the differences in national tax systems.
