This editor thinks that user boxes are rarely relevant to Wikipedia.
Etymology
Paleo (old, ancient)
Neonate (baby, weeks old)
I have chosen this nickname because I have been around Wikipedia a long time, then suddenly decided to create an account, and a number of general WP procedures were still very new to me at account creation time. I only use this name on the WMF projects.
Background
I am a male born in the seventies in Canada. I am not notable. Although I long resisted creating an account, I have made edits to Wikipedia on and off since January 2005. This account was finally created on February 2017.
My specialty is computer science but I rarely edit in the area. Favorite sports are swimming, soccer and taekwondo. Amateur-level interests include: music, biology (and evolution), medicine, geology, paleontology, archaeology, anthropology, cosmology, physics, climatology, environmentalism and religion (from the perspectives of anthropology, sociology, neurology and literature).
I was raised as a fundamentalist creationist but have grown out of it over time through education, research, critical thinking and knowledge; I am now an agnostic who has ceased to believe in the supernatural. I'm also a regular reader of the science reference desk.
I compose and produce recordings. I like fusion jazz, smooth jazz, flamenco, Indian, Turkish, world music, various forms of electronic music and religious music, mostly instrumental. I have some interest in the history and fabrication of instruments. Music is the art through which I can feel and express my "spirituality" today.
Venues
Note: parts of this section may be outdated and likely to be rewritten.
As I find that most articles I could think of already exist, I have decided to create an account, and to as time permits use the following categories to find articles to improve (provided for myself and others who may find them useful):
Second sight - Has been proposed as mostly Celtic/Gaelic context of extrasensory perception but suggestions to merge in it have also been made. Recently called to attention via WP:FTN.
Chris Kilham - BLP: Promotional tone and unbalanced pseudomedical claims
WP:ARCA — Arbitration Requests Clarification and Amendment (i.e. article protection change when original administrator not available, clarification to sanctions)

To indicate text is a variable name. Use for any variable names except those including "I" (uppercase i) and/or "l" (lowercase L); for these, ((var serif)) should be used to ensure a noticeable distinction
To display parameters as used in code (i.e. with triple braces), especially to indicate relationships between them. May be combined with ((para)) above
To display parameter values lightly bordered; replaces <code>...</code>, especially when value contains embedded or leading/trailing blanks; visualized here with middot (·) but can use ␠, ▯, or any character.
To showcase with colors in horizontal format the syntax of any template, while providing an easy way to display placeholder texts using colons as separators
To indicate text is source code. To nest other templates within ((code)), use <code>...</code>. ((codett)) differs only in styling: someMethod becomes someMethod
( or ((dc))) To indicate deprecated source code in template documentation, articles on HTML specs, etc. The ((dc2)) variant uses strike-through (<blink>) while ((dcr)) uses red (<blink>).
To showcase with colors and multiple lines (vertical format) the syntax of any template, while providing an easy way to display placeholder texts using colons as separators
